VISION

water sanitation sdg6

A world where we collaboratively create an equal workforce in the water and sanitation sector through inclusiveness and diversity to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

While gender-balanced work places are a key to success, the water and sanitation sector remains a male-dominated environment.  Women can be as strong leaders, engineers, researchers, operators as men and they need to be equally engaged in conversations and decision making at all levels. Therefore, WWSN will focus on three objectives:
  1. To establish a global community of women working in water and sanitation by providing a platform for networking, exchange and professional development
  2. To work towards (raise awareness to enable) a safe and gender equal work environment
  3. To foster professional development, increase the visibility of female professionals and celebrate their accomplishments
We want to inspire women to venture into the water and sanitation sector, challenge the status quo and become change agents in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

📅 13 October 2026
🕑 14:30 - 15:30 CEST (Paris time)
💻 Format: Online
🙂 WWSN members + Stronger Together! Coalition members + friends (women only)

Registration is open

Our series of pre- and post-conference meetings brings together women who have participated in – or are preparing to attend – major international water conferences. The aim is simple: to connect, network and exchange, while building relationships that continue well beyond individual events. For our upcoming meeting, we are pleased to welcome two speakers from our Stronger Together! Coalition sister organisations:

  • Isabell Hedke, Youth Representative for the Stronger Together! Coalition will share key takeaways from Stockholm World Water Week and look ahead to the 2026 UN Water Conference.
  • Suray Charyyeva from the Women in Water Diplomacy Network will take the conversation further, exploring relevant policy processes beyond the UN Water Conference and opportunities for continued engagement.

Following these insights, we will move into an interactive networking session, giving participating women plenty of space to reconnect, meet new colleagues, exchange experiences and strengthen connections across our networks. Come for the insights, stay for the connections – it will be informative, interactive and fun!

Whether you attended or will attend one of these events or simply want to stay engaged with the WWSN and Stronger Together! Coalition community, we would be delighted to see you there.
