UNESCO Multi-Stakeholder Coalition for Gender Equality in Water


WWSN is member of the UNESCO led multi-stakeholder coaltion for gender equality in water.

Since 2024, WWSN is member of the UNESCO led Multi-stakeholder coalition for gender equality in water.
The Multi-stakeholder Coalition takes collective and concrete action to address gender disparities in water-related isseus, inline with five "Game Changers" or ghe Water Action Agenda
  • Advocate for gender-equal funding that supports women's leadership, protects water rights, and reduces reliance on unpaid labor by women and girls.
  • Bridge the gap between policy and practice to ensure gender-equality policies are implemented effectively.
  • Promote women's leadership through education and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Challenge harmful social norms and stereotypes that hinder inclusive water access and decision-making.
  • Advance gender-responsive policies using sex-disaggregated water data and appropriate indicators.

Coalition members actively share progress and insights at key international and regional events.

  • Events: Develop and design events for our membership engagement. Guide WWSN´ s strategy on outreach events, WWSN at international conferences, fora and events.
  • Communications & Advocacy: Storytelling, messaging, corporate and external communications, develop a startegic communications plan and advocacy strategy, digital communication (social media, website...).
  • Membership: Design and implement the strategy of enrolling and engaging members.
  • Mentorship: Setting up our mentor-mentee-ship programme.
  • Fundraising: Raising the funds we need to do this great work. 
  • WWSN strategic group: inspire the WWSN strategy which includes development of new activities, outreach, and new working groups and strategic position of the network.
